At SYR Field Hockey, our mission has always been to provide athletes with meaningful opportunities to develop, compete, and achieve their goals. As our club continues to grow, we are excited to announce a new structure for the 2026–2027 season.
Rather than operating in traditional "sessions," SYR will now offer
Team Travel Opportunities. This new model allows athletes to train consistently with their teammates, compete in high-level events, and follow a clear pathway for development throughout the year.
Sunshine Showcase Teams
SYR will field
U16 and U19 Sunshine Showcase teams that will compete at the
2027 USA Field Hockey Sunshine Showcase at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Kissimmee, Florida, January 22–24, 2027.
Tryouts: July 23rd and August 6th 2026 (Must register for tryout)
Selected athletes will participate in
five mandatory team practices leading up to the event:
- Two practices in November
- Two practices in December
- One practice in January
The Sunshine Showcase is one of the nation's premier recruiting events, providing athletes with an outstanding opportunity to compete in front of college coaches from across the country.
Indoor Travel Teams
SYR will offer Indoor Travel Teams at the following age groups:
- U14
- U16
- U19 Team 1
- U19 Team 2
Tryout:
September 13th 2026 (Must register for tryout)
Teams will practice
every Monday from 6:00–8:00 PM, beginning
November 2, 2026, through
March 1, 2027.

Tournament schedules are intended and subject to change based on registration, qualification, and event scheduling.
Regional Club Championship (RCC) Teams
SYR will register a
U16 and U19 Regional Club Championship (RCC) teams.
Selection is
by invitation only.
Athletes must:
- Be an active participant on a SYR Sunshine Showcase Team, Indoor Travel Team, or both.
- Be club-affiliated with
SYR for the 2026–2027 USA Field Hockey season.
Additional information regarding RCC will be released at a later date.
Outdoor Travel Teams
Our Outdoor Travel Program will continue to provide competitive
11v11 tournament opportunities for U14, U16, and U19 athletes.
Tryout: Early March TBD (Check back for registration)
Intended Tournament Schedule
- Shooting Star Jamboree (Delaware) – Weekend after Easter (TBD)
- USA Field Hockey Summer Bash at the Beach (Virginia Beach) – Late July (TBD)
Local College 7v7 Tournaments
One of SYR's core values is supporting the college programs that continue to invest in our athletes and club.
Our Local College 7v7 events
do not require a tryout and are open to
all active SYR players. Athletes simply register, and SYR will place them on the appropriate roster based on age.
Typical tournaments include:
- SUNY Geneseo
- St. John Fisher University
- Roberts Wesleyan University
- Utica University
- Buffalo Classic
These events provide outstanding competition while allowing athletes to experience different local campus’ and gain additional exposure.
Development Opportunities for Every Athlete
Being part of SYR is about more than making a travel roster.
If you are not selected for one of our travel teams,
there is still a place for you within our program. We remain committed to developing every athlete and providing opportunities to improve throughout the year.
Six-Week Development Clinics
Open to all players, our clinics focus on skill development, confidence, and game knowledge.
Indoor Clinics (Hard Court)
- November–December (6 weeks/ 1 per week)
Outdoor Turf Clinics
- January–February (6 weeks/ 1 per week)
- March–April (6 weeks/ 1 per week)
These clinics are an excellent opportunity for athletes looking to continue developing and prepare for future travel team opportunities.
College Coaching Clinics
Each
June and July, SYR will continue to host our popular
College Coaching Clinic Series for athletes in
grades 7–12.
Every week, a different collegiate coaching staff leads training sessions, exposing athletes to a variety of coaching philosophies, training methods, and recruiting opportunities. This has become one of the most valuable experiences we offer and continues to connect our athletes with coaches from programs across the region.
